This Privacy Policy explains how the LayerMapper apps – LayerMapper MApp, LayerMapper AI Shaders, LayerMapper Player, LayerMapper NDI and LayerMapper Desktop – and the website layermapper.com handle information.
In short: there are no LayerMapper accounts, no analytics or advertising SDKs in the apps, and your media and projects stay on your device. Purchases are handled by Apple and Google. Features that connect to the internet do so only when you use them, and send data to the services you choose.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of personal data is Denis Grzechnik, the developer of LayerMapper, Poland. Contact: layermapper [at] gmail [dot] com.
2. The apps
2.1 What we do NOT collect
The apps do not send us, and we do not collect or store:
- personal information such as your name, email address or phone number;
- location data;
- advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data;
- usage analytics or statistics;
- your media files, projects or creative works.
The apps contain no third-party analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
2.2 Data stored on your device
Media you import, projects, presets, mesh coordinates, recorded animations and settings are stored locally in the app’s sandbox. They are protected by your operating system, included in your device backups if you enable them, and deleted when you uninstall the app. If you enable iCloud, some of this data may be stored in your own iCloud account under Apple’s terms; we have no access to it.
API keys and stream keys you enter (see 2.5 and 2.6) are stored only on your device.
2.3 Device permissions
The apps ask for permissions only for the features you use. You can grant or revoke them at any time in your device settings.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Photo library / media | Import images and videos into your projects; save recordings. |
| Camera | Use the front or back camera (or both) as a live video source. |
| Microphone | Audio-reactive effects, audio of camera inputs and recordings, live streaming. |
| Local network | Discover and connect to devices on your Wi-Fi: NDI sources, Ableton Link, Art-Net/DMX, multicast shader sync, LayerMapper Player and the Direct-LAN receiver on Android TV. |
| USB devices / MIDI | HDMI capture cards (UVC) and MIDI controllers. |
| Screen capture (Android) | Live streaming and recording of the output. |
| External display | Send the mapped output to a projector via HDMI or AirPlay. |
Camera and microphone signals are processed on your device in real time. They leave your device only if you send them yourself – for example in a live stream or over NDI on your local network.
2.4 Local network features
NDI, Ableton Link, Art-Net/DMX, multicast shader sync, Player sync and Direct-LAN send video, control and timing data between devices on your local network. This data is not sent to us.
2.5 Online features you choose to use
Some features connect to third-party services only when you use them. The data goes directly from your device to that service and is governed by its own privacy policy:
- YouTube and web/URL inputs – the app loads the video or web page you request from that website.
- Live streaming – your output, and audio if enabled, is sent to the platform or RTMP server you configure (for example YouTube or Facebook), using your stream key.
- AI shader generation – your text prompt and, where relevant, the shader code are sent to the AI provider you select (for example OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, Groq, DeepSeek or Mistral), using your own API key. We do not receive your prompts or the generated code. Please check your provider’s terms before sending sensitive information.
- Other optional integrations – if you connect another third-party account in an app (for example a cloud storage service), data you choose to send goes directly to that service under its terms.
2.6 Community library (AI Shaders)
If you publish a shader to the community library, the shader (its code, name, parameters and preview) is stored in a public database operated by Apple (CloudKit) and becomes visible to other users. Apple assigns an anonymous identifier to your iCloud account for this purpose; we do not see your Apple ID, name or email. Downloading shaders from the library sends a request to the same Apple service. You can ask us to remove a shader you published.
2.7 Purchases and license verification
All purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your payment details, billing address, name or email. The apps only receive confirmation of an active purchase or subscription and the license type, verified through Apple StoreKit or Google Play Billing. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
2.8 Support emails
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as needed to handle your request.
2.9 Claiming the Desktop PRO beta (Lifetime bonus)
If you forward us your App Store or Google Play receipt to claim the LayerMapper Desktop PRO beta, we receive the data contained in that email – typically your name, email address, order number, purchase date and the purchased item. We use it only to verify your Lifetime purchase and to send you access to the beta and related beta updates. Legal basis: performance of the bonus offer you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We keep the email for as long as you have access to the beta and for up to 12 months afterwards to handle possible questions, and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it earlier, which ends the beta access we provide by email.
3. The website (layermapper.com)
3.1 Hosting
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver and protect the website, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser user agent and the requested URL in server logs. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
3.2 Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first tool that does not use cookies, does not use local storage and does not track you across websites. It gives us aggregated statistics such as page views and page load times.
3.3 Cookies
The website sets only one functional cookie, lang, when you choose a language in the language switcher, so that we can show you the same language next time. It contains only the language code and expires after one year. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
3.4 Embedded videos
Some pages contain YouTube videos. They are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com only after you click play; until then no data is sent to YouTube. After you click, YouTube’s privacy policy applies.
3.5 “Notify me” list (Desktop PRO)
If you join the list to be notified when LayerMapper Desktop PRO launches, we store your email address, the language of the page and the date in a database hosted by Cloudflare (D1). We use it only to send you an email about the PRO launch. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent and ask us to delete your address at any time by email; we will delete the list after the launch announcement.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract – providing the purchased app and verifying your license;
- Legitimate interest – operating and securing the website (server logs), answering your messages;
- Consent – the “Notify me” list, optional iCloud sync and optional integrations you enable;
- Contract – verifying a forwarded receipt and providing the Desktop PRO beta bonus.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Data is processed only by the providers named in this policy, as needed to deliver the service: Apple, Google, Cloudflare, and the third-party services you choose to connect.
International transfers: Cloudflare, Apple and Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
6. Retention
- App data: on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Purchase records: kept by Apple or Google under their policies.
- “Notify me” list: until the PRO launch announcement or until you ask us to delete your address.
- Support emails: as long as needed to handle your request.
- Forwarded purchase receipts (Desktop PRO beta bonus): for the duration of the beta access and up to 12 months afterwards.
7. Children
The apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Purchases by minors are subject to Apple’s and Google’s family controls.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise them, email us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
9. Security
The less data we collect, the less can be exposed. The website is served only over HTTPS, the apps do not send your projects to our servers, and license validation uses Apple’s and Google’s secure infrastructure. Protect your device with a passcode and keep your operating system up to date.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will announce significant changes in the apps or on this page and update the date at the top. We will not start collecting new personal data without telling you first and, where required, asking for your consent.
